Webinar Replay Now Online: Streamlining Ototoxicity Studies

The SPS educational webinar, “Streamlining Ototoxicity Studies – From Research to Clinic,” presented by Donald Hodges (CBSET), Cilcare’s US partner, is now available on replay. Originally held on December 4, 2025, this session was moderated by Raafat Fares, Chair of the SPS Training & Education Committee, and brought together experts in auditory safety and drug development.

The webinar addresses the ongoing challenge of drug-induced hearing loss, a frequent yet often underrecognized risk associated with several therapeutic classes, including antibiotics, anticancer agents, and loop diuretics. As new modalities and combination therapies continue to emerge, the need for early identification and mitigation of ototoxic risks has become increasingly critical for both patient safety and regulatory success.

Donald Hodges provides practical insights into the growing role of auditory safety testing across therapeutic areas, highlighting how preclinical models from cell-based systems to animal studies can help bridge mechanistic understanding and translational relevance. The session also discusses how auditory endpoints can be effectively integrated into drug development and regulatory programs.

Designed for researchers, toxicologists, and regulatory professionals, this replay offers a concise and valuable overview of best practices for implementing auditory safety strategies from discovery through clinical development.
