Upcoming SPS Webinar: “Streamlining Ototoxicity Studies – From Research to Clinic”

SPS webinar ototoxicity

Presented by Donald Hodges, CBSET | December 4, 2025 | 11:00 AM EST | Zoom Webinar for SPS members and non members

Cilcare is pleased to share the upcoming Society of Safety Pharmacology (SPS) educational webinar, “Streamlining Ototoxicity Studies – From Research to Clinic,” taking place on December 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST.

The session will be presented by Donald Hodges (CBSET, Cilcare’s US partner) and moderated by Raafat Fares, Chair of the SPS Training & Education Committee.

Hearing loss induced by ototoxic drugs remains a significant yet often underrecognized challenge in both clinical care and drug development. A growing number of therapeutic agents — including antibiotics, anticancer compounds, and loop diuretics — have been shown to cause auditory side effects. As new modalities and combination therapies emerge, early identification and mitigation of ototoxic risks are becoming critical to ensure patient safety and regulatory success.

The webinar will explore the growing importance of auditory safety testing in the development of new therapeutics. Participants will gain an understanding of:

  • Why auditory safety evaluation is becoming essential across therapeutic areas
  • How preclinical models — from cell systems to animal studies — can bridge mechanistic and translational gaps
  • Ways to integrate auditory endpoints into regulatory development programs

Gathering experts from Charles River Laboratory and CBSET, this educational session is designed for researchers, toxicologists, and regulatory professionals seeking to better understand and implement auditory safety strategies from discovery through clinical development.
